FootballAntony: Manchester United Star Builds Ultimate Player, Brutally Snubs Cristiano Ronaldo
- Manchester United winger Antony has snubbed Cristiano Ronaldo when building his ultimate player
- The Brazilian did not consider his former teammate a top choice in any of the attributes under consideration
- The pair played together for four months at Old Trafford before Ronaldo left for Al-Nassr
Manchester United winger Antony appears not to be a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo after building his perfect footballer and snubbing the Al-Nassr star.
Antony joined United from Erik ten Hag’s former club Ajax for £86m but has not entirely reflected on the pitch as a player who was transferred for such an amount and ended the season with an ankle injury sustained against Chelsea.
Cristiano Ronaldo was in his second spell at Old Trafford when the Brazilian arrived, and the two appeared to have had chemistry, with the 23-year-old joining in to mimic Ronaldo’s celebration.
Sun Sport reports that the skilful winger named the Portuguese as one of his idols while growing up, including compatriots Neymar and Ronaldinho.
Antony snubs Ronaldo
The former Sao Paulo star was asked to build his ultimate player by 11teamsports given football attributes including shooting, leadership and flair.
He had spots for players like Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski and teammates Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, but not for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
It got controversial when he picked Lewandowski for his shooting attributes and Casemiro for his leadership qualities, two areas Ronaldo appears to stand tall over his colleagues.
He also picked 2018 Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric as the most intelligent player he has watched, while World Cup winner Messi has got the flair according to him.
Ronaldo failed Antony’s signature move
Sports Brief reported that Ronaldo failed Antony’s signature move during the warm-up ahead of Manchester United’s game against West Ham.
The Brazilian is known for his arsenal of skills, including stepovers and dance-like moves. He performed a 360 turn before sending a pass out of play against Sherif Tiraspol in the Europa League last season.
Head coach Erik ten Hag substituted him at halftime but denied it was due to the antics, claiming it was pre-planned that he would spend only 45 minutes in the game.
